Peppermint Lemonade Recipe – Refreshing, Cooling, and Caffeine-Free

Looking for a summer drink that’s refreshing, cooling, and easy to make? This peppermint lemonade recipe is the perfect herbal twist on a classic favorite. Naturally caffeine-free and made with simple ingredients, this minty citrus drink is a go-to for hot days, backyard gatherings, or post-playground rehydration.

By infusing dried peppermint leaf into a simple tea concentrate and pairing it with fresh lemon juice and raw honey or maple syrup, you get a crisp, clean beverage with a gentle herbal edge. Kids love the taste. Adults love the calm. Your gut might even thank you.

🌿 Peppermint Lemonade Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons dried peppermint leaf (or 4–6 fresh sprigs)

  • 4 cups filtered water, divided

  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons)

  • ¼–⅓ cup raw honey or maple syrup, to taste

  • Optional: lemon slices or mint sprigs for garnish

  • Optional: 1 pinch of sea salt for a mineral boost

🍹 How to Make Peppermint Lemonade:

  1. Make the peppermint tea concentrate:
Boil 2 cups of water and pour over the peppermint leaves. Cover and steep for 10–15 minutes, then strain.

  2. Mix the lemonade base:
In a pitcher, combine the lemon juice and sweetener of choice. Stir until fully dissolved.

  3. Combine & chill:
Add the cooled peppermint tea and remaining 2 cups of cold water to the pitcher. Stir well and taste. Adjust sweetness or tartness as needed.

  4. Serve over ice, with lemon slices or fresh mint if you’re feelin’ fancy.

💡 Tips & Variations:

  • Add butterfly pea flowers to your peppermint tea for a magical color-changing effect when lemon is added.

  • Replace 1 cup of water with sparkling water for a fizzy version.

  • Make it a tea pop by freezing it into popsicle molds.

THe Natural Mama Co.

Some of my fondest memories, are sitting in my mothers antique red velvet chairs looking through all her nature books. I have lived in the PNW my whole life,. My mother taught me to forage the land, and the medicinal properties of herbs since I was a child. For years my mother pushed me to create this business, I told her she was "crazy" but little did I know, I was the crazy one! August of 2018, when the Elderberries were perfectly ripe for the picking, I finally gave in. I made an extra large batch of my Elderberry syrup and offered it for sale. Now here I am, years later, with a thriving small business.

I pride myself on the quality of my products, I use only the finest, organic ingredients. The Natural Mama Co is women-owned and operated.

This stuff is the real deal. My family and I have been taking this for a couple years now. We have avoided getting sick during flu season. Even on the onset of feeling something come on this is the first thing I reach for. The syrup is so delicious it’s easy to pour over pancakes and waffles for a fun change from regular syrup. With speedy delivery and the knowledge of The Natural Mama I haven’t found anything that compares!
